You’ve got three choices Deputy for Mayor:

Steve Maloney

Steve Maloney is a 25-year Grey Highlands property owner and 7-year permanent resident – Grey Highlands is home. Self-employed as a Management Consultant (Speaker, Writer, and Management Solutions) for over 30 years - I run on essentially two platforms and from there you will understand how I'll react and communicate on all the micro-issues that will arise in the next four years.

1. Public Value - I will treat your tax dollar as if it's my own and I have the experience and knowledge in both my professional and personal life to make that claim - I know what VALUE to you looks like and what needless spending should be avoided.

2. Promote productive relations between Council and Grey Highlands senior management - it's what I do professionally and the latest garbage crisis could have been averted with someone like ME in charge of the project. I recently attended an information session on YOUR garbage pick-up, the session was held at the 11th hour, clumsily organized and produced the inevitable disastrous results that you would have imagined. The result just 16 hours later: a 4-3 VOTE for large cumbersome bins for you to manage your garbage starting January 1, 2023. We can do better going forward.

If you have any questions about my candidacy you can call me anytime at 416-460-4046 and I’ll be happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

See you on the campaign trail,
Steve.

Dane Nielsen

Hello, my name is Dane Nielsen. I am currently a councillor for Grey Highlands and president of Kids N Us daycares and run my own business in Eugenia. I am proud to call Grey Highlands and area home for most of my life. I graduated from GHSS and went to university to study Economics. As soon as Jess and I were done with school we moved back buying our first home in Grey Highlands. My time on council has been spent working on attainable housing, public safety, short term accommodations and minimizing overreaching regulations. This term of council I have strived to have logical long term planning be my compass. The decisions we make at council affect the next 25-50 years in Grey Highlands. Understanding the impact of decisions is integral to being a great councillor.

As Deputy Mayor that compass is key to finding our direction and guiding the entire county forward. I am excited to be a part of County Council as it means being a part of long-term care, affordable housing and childcare discussions.

As a member of this wonderful community, I have given my time to the Chamber of Commerce (as President), Flesherton Kinsmen (as President), the GH tourism advisory committee (before being on council) and of course Kids N Us (7 years as President). I enjoy all Grey Highlands has to offer with my wife and two kids and you can see us at most of the wonderful events our community members put on. See you soon.

Melanie Seeley

I grew up in Badjeros and spent 18 years of my life living on our working farm. I was into sports when I was younger, and to an extent, I still am. I played baseball, soccer, hockey. I’m now a single mother of an active 5-year-old who also enjoys sports. I enjoy coaching my son’s baseball team.

I studied Journalism Print at Loyalist College in Belleville writing articles for newspapers and a magazine. I did my internship at Ontario Hydro Head Quarters doing PR giving me experience communicating with a range of people in a variety of situations. Upon completion, I moved to Victoria BC where I took up a job working for 2 Seniors Living facilities for the next 7 to 8 years giving me a comprehensive understanding of the needs and challenges they face

I spent 16 years abroad teaching English as a Second Language to students aged 2-60 giving me an appreciation and respect for a variety of cultures. I also had the pleasure of volunteering at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

My platform for this candidacy is
1. Helping to find solutions to our waste management issues
2. Finding long term solutions to our housing problems
3. Protecting our wetlands and farmlands from reduction due to increased residential use
4. Seeking sustainable/innovative ways to our C4 zoning issues
5. Envisioning long term solutions to our need for updated facilities for our youth and
6. Engaging and mobilizing seniors in support of the development of an age-friendly Grey Highlands
